How to check that an online MBA is UGC-approved

The correct term is "UGC-entitled": the university is on UGC-DEB's list of institutions allowed to run online degrees for that academic session.

Find the university on the UGC-DEB website (deb.ugc.ac.in) list of entitled institutions for your admission session.
Check the programme itself (MBA, online mode) is on that list, not just the university.
Apply only through the university's own portal; you will generate an ABC ID and DEB ID during admission.
Check the NAAC grade; online degrees need a valid NAAC accreditation.
Pay fees only to the university, never to an agent's account.

Hidden costs to ask about before you pay

Exam fees: GLA charges ₹1,500 a semester on top of tuition; LPU's listed fee already includes its exam fee.
Registration or application fees: ₹500 (SMU) to ₹2,000 (GLA), usually non-refundable.
Time-bound grants: LPU's 20% student grant and SMU's 10% upfront concession can change by session.
EMI charges: "no-cost" EMI can still carry a processing fee; ask for the total payable.
