Online MCA Fees and Eligibility: 13 Universities Compared

Online MCA fees in India range from ₹62,000 to ₹1,99,000 for the full 2 years, across the 13 universities we compared. CCS University is the lowest and Amity University is the highest. Eligibility matters as much as the fee here, because many universities ask for a Mathematics or computing background.

The MCA is one of the most practical master’s degrees you can do online. You might be a BCA graduate who wants a stronger job profile, a BSc student who wants to move into software, or a working IT professional who needs a master’s degree for your next role. But fees are not the only trap. Plenty of students pick a course and then discover they do not meet its eligibility rule.

This guide covers the full fee list, eligibility rules, university-wise answers for LPU, Manipal, DY Patil, Amity, Parul and more, what you will study, and how to pick the right programme. All figures come from the university pages on our site.

Online MCA eligibility: the part most people skip

You need a bachelor’s degree, but the rules differ more than they do for an online MBA. Broadly, there are a few routes in.

Eligibility routes for an online MCA in India

Here is what our university pages list for some of the universities in this comparison:

  • Andhra University, Shoolini, DY Patil and VGU: 50% in graduation.
  • LPU Online and Chandigarh University: listed as graduate.
  • Parul University: graduation with 50% (45% reserved) and Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation.
  • CCS University: graduation with 50% and Mathematics at 10+2 or graduation, or BCA or a similar route.
  • Galgotias University: a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.

Short forms like these can hide detail, so open your university’s page and confirm the full rule. Most universities ask non-computing graduates for Mathematics at 10+2 or degree level.

LPU MCA eligibility

Our page for the LPU Online MCA lists graduates as eligible. The rule for the on-campus MCA may be different. If you searched for LPU MCA eligibility, confirm which programme you are looking at, and ask about any subject requirement for your degree.

Can I do an MCA without a BCA?

Often, yes. Many universities accept other graduates, particularly those who studied Mathematics or Statistics at 10+2 or graduation. If you have a BCom or BA without Mathematics, check carefully, because this is where most applications run into trouble. Ask for a written answer before you pay anything.

University-wise online MCA fees

Parul University online MCA fees

The Parul online MCA costs ₹80,000 in total, or about ₹40,000 a year. See the Parul online MCA page.

GLA University online MCA fees

The GLA online MCA costs ₹94,000, which keeps it under the ₹1 lakh mark. See the GLA online MCA page.

Amity online MCA fees

The Amity University online MCA costs ₹1,99,000, the highest in this comparison. Searches for Amity University MCA fees can bring up campus figures too, so check that you are comparing the online course. See the Amity online MCA page.

Manipal online MCA

Two Manipal options appear here. Manipal University Jaipur costs ₹1,58,000, and Sikkim Manipal University costs ₹1,10,000. They are separate universities, so compare them as you would any other two options.

DY Patil online MCA

The DY Patil University online MCA costs ₹1,40,000, or ₹70,000 a year, and lists 50% in graduation. If you searched for DY Patil Pune MCA fees, note that this is the online programme from DY Patil Vidyapeeth. See the DY Patil online MCA page.

LPU MCA fees

The LPU Online MCA fee is ₹1,29,600, or about ₹64,800 a year. Searches like LPU MCA fee structure, MCA fees in LPU, MCA LPU fees and Lovely Professional University MCA fees often mix up online and campus courses, and the two have different fees. See the LPU online MCA page.

Galgotias University MCA admission last date

Last dates change each session, so we do not list one here. The Galgotias online MCA costs ₹84,200, and a counsellor can confirm the current date. See the Galgotias online MCA page.

The lowest-fee options

CCS University costs ₹62,000 and Andhra University costs ₹76,200. Both are worth a look if the total fee is your first concern.

Is there an affordable online MCA with EMI?

Yes. Five universities in this comparison cost under ₹1 lakh: CCS, Andhra, Parul, Galgotias and GLA. If you are looking for an affordable online MCA in India with EMI, ask about EMI at each one, and compare the total you will pay, including any interest or processing fee. A lower monthly payment over a longer period can cost more overall.

What will you study?

An MCA builds your core computing skills. Subjects vary by university, so ask for the current syllabus. Most programmes include these foundations, plus electives and a project.

Typical subjects in an online MCA programme

MCA in AI and ML: is it worth looking for?

If you want an MCA in AI and ML, you are not alone. Some universities list specialisations, and LPU Online, for example, lists five. Ask whether AI and ML is offered in online mode at your university, read the syllabus, and check how much programming and project work it really includes. A specialisation name means little if the course only scratches the surface.

Who is an online MCA for?

  • BCA and BSc graduates: this is the natural next step towards developer and engineering roles.
  • Non-computing graduates: a way to switch into IT, provided you meet the Mathematics rule.
  • Working IT professionals: a way to formalise your skills for promotions and lead roles.
  • Government IT job aspirants: an MCA is a common eligibility for IT posts in places such as banks and PSUs. Always check the exact wording of each job notice, including whether it accepts online degrees.

Online MCA vs a coding bootcamp

This comes up a lot. A bootcamp teaches job skills quickly, but it does not give you a master’s degree. An online MCA takes 2 years and gives you a recognised qualification, which can matter for government jobs, teaching, or companies that filter by degree. If your only goal is to get a first coding job fast, a shorter course may be enough. If you want a long-term qualification, an MCA makes more sense. Many people benefit most from a degree plus personal projects, because employers want proof that you can build things.

How to make an online MCA actually work for your career

Here is the honest truth about tech careers: employers look at what you can do. Your degree helps you get noticed, but your skills get you hired. While you study, try to:

  • Build two or three small projects, and put the code on GitHub.
  • Practise data structures regularly, since they appear in many technical interviews.
  • Use your final project to solve a real problem at work, if you can.
  • Learn one area well, such as web development, data or cloud, rather than a little of everything.

Online MCA vs campus MCA

A campus MCA gives you labs, classmates and daily contact with teachers. An online MCA gives you flexibility, and lets you keep earning while you study. For a working professional, that second point is often decisive, because two years of lost salary can cost far more than any fee in the table above.

The trade-off is that nobody will push you. In an online course, you have to set up your own laptop, your own practice time, and your own projects. Before you enrol, ask yourself one honest question: will I still study on a tired Tuesday night? If the answer is yes, online can work very well. If the answer is no, fix your routine first, or look at a format with more structure.

What does a good study week look like?

Here is a simple example for someone working full time. It is a suggestion rather than a rule, and your university’s schedule will shape it.

  • Two weekday evenings: watch recorded lessons and make notes.
  • Two other evenings: write code for 45 minutes. Short, regular practice beats one long weekend session.
  • Saturday: attend any live class and work on assignments.
  • Sunday: spend an hour on your project, then rest.

That is roughly eight to ten hours a week. Some weeks will be harder, particularly around exams, so leave some room in your plan.

What to look for in the syllabus

Two MCA programmes can share a name and still teach quite different things. When you read a syllabus, look for these signs:

  • Current languages: Python and Java are common, so check what the course uses.
  • Practical work: look for labs, assignments and a real project rather than theory alone.
  • Modern electives: cloud, data and AI options show how up to date a programme is.
  • A final project: this is often the best thing to show an employer.

Documents you will usually need

Keep these ready before you apply, so that a missing paper does not cost you a session: your 10th and 12th marksheets, your graduation marksheets, a government photo ID such as Aadhaar or PAN, a passport-size photograph, and your ABC ID and DEB ID, which are created during admission. If you are a final-year student, ask whether you can apply with your current marks.

Common mistakes to avoid

  1. Comparing fees before checking eligibility. The cheapest course is no use if you cannot join it.
  2. Assuming a BCom or BA qualifies. The Mathematics rule catches many applicants.
  3. Mixing up campus and online fees. This is the most common error with LPU, Amity and Manipal searches.
  4. Choosing only by a trendy specialisation name. Read the subjects behind it.
  5. Ignoring the job notice. If you are aiming for a government post, read the eligibility wording before you enrol.

One more tip: if your university offers a choice of electives, pick them with a job in mind. Look at a few job descriptions you would like to apply for in two years, note the skills they list, and choose the electives that match.

That small exercise takes about 20 minutes, and it turns a generic degree into a focused one.

How to choose in five steps

  1. Check eligibility first. Do this before you compare fees.
  2. Check approval. Our guide shows how to check UGC-DEB approval.
  3. Set your budget. Decide your total limit and whether you need EMI.
  4. Compare the syllabus. Look for the languages and tools you want to learn.
  5. Ask about exams and support. Check whether exams are online, and how doubts are handled.
